What We Believe

  • Who is God?

We believe God is the One who created this world.  We believe God sent His Son, Jesus to save this world.  We believe God, the Holy Spirit brings people to faith in God, as well as guides and grows them in that faith.

While it may seem we believe in three Gods, we actually believe in one God who is Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.  Each are separate persons yet each one is also 100% God.

If this sounds confusing, it is.  The reality is that our brains are not large enough to fully comprehend God.  If you would like to read more about who God is, check out these writings.

  • What is the Bible?

The word Bible is actually a word for book.  The Bible is really a book of books.  These books are from different genres:  historical, wisdom, prophecy, letters, apocalytic, etc.

We believe God, the Holy Spirit, guided ordinary people to write the words of these books which have been passed down through the centuries to us as God's holy, inspired word.

We base all of our teachings on what God tells us in the Bible.

If you don't have a Bible, we would be happy to give you one.

  • What is Baptism?

Baptism is God working through water and his word to wash us clean and choose us to be his people.

In baptism, a person has water poured over their head in the name of God the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

As God's chosen people, we seek to become more like God in our actions, thoughts and words.

We do this by studying the Bible individually and in groups, receiving communion, coming together for worship, as well as encouraging and praying for each other.

  • What is Communion and Who gets to receive it?

We believe communion is a sacred, holy meal.  In this meal, we believe we are receiving the body and blood of Jesus Christ as it comes to us with bread and wine for the forgiveness of our sins.  We believe Christians who have faith in the words, "given and shed for you for the forgiveness of sins" and desire the forgiveness Jesus offers in this meal are worthy and well prepared to receive this meal.

If you are unsure about receiving Jesus' forgiveness in this meal or have a different understanding, you are invited to come forward for a blessing and indicate so by crossing your arms.

For more about what the Bible says about communion, check out Matthew 26:17-30; Mark 14:12-26; Luke 22:7-30; and 1 Corinthians 11:17-34.

  • How can I learn more about God and the Christian faith?
